How’s everyone’s 2024 going? It’s been flying by this way. With changes all around in my household, I figured it was time for a small update. The craziest part of life right now is the weather. It has been an insanely warm winter in Minnesota. We had a dusting of snow in January that melted weeks ago. The temperature in my area on the 31st of January was 55 degrees. The dogs and I took full advantage of walking that day. I can honestly say I’ve never experienced that kind of phenomenon before and doubt I ever will again. We are taking advantage of this extremely mild winter in every way possible. Any day over 35 has had us out on the trails for our two-mile walk or as the boys seem to deem it, our sniff adventure. We were out in the yard playing with the Chuck-It ball on New Year’s Day and even stopped at the dog park. I’ve grilled a few times in the past few weeks and broke out the flip-flops on more than one occasion in the afternoons. None of that ever happens at this time of year. Our norm is -20 degrees and five feet of snow on the lawn. Here’s to hoping Mother Nature continues to grace us with this beautiful winter!
If you live in the Midwest, you know exactly why I dedicated a full paragraph to the weather. It’s the norm in our neck of the woods to discuss the weather before you ease into other areas of conversation. 2024 is turning into a year of change for me. I’ve slimmed down on my part-time work and dedicated more time to doing things for myself. Focusing on my health and fitness has been at the top of the list as has taking care of my mental well-being. Self-love can go a LONG way!
Eating right, exercising several times a week, and getting enough sleep each night has made such a difference for me in the past few weeks. I didn’t realize how over-extended I was until I started making those small changes. For the first time in a while, I feel great about a lot, especially my motivation to write all the words. It’s been a long time coming and it feels so good to finally have that inspiration again! I can’t wait to share Saving Us with you. Everything in this book is going to be so much more than the rest of the books – more sass, more humor, more action, more steam, and more OMG moments that will make it worth the long wait!
